Student-to-Student - Forming relationships, building a
peer group, and learning about life and faith in community.
Student-to-Adult Leader - Seeing Christ at work in
another adult besides a parent. It can be quite eye-opening.
Student-to-God Awakening faith so you can awaken
sight to see the bigger God-world around you.

2.GROW
In Knowledge - Growing in Bible-knowledge and
discoveriing that it applies to everyday life.

In Faith - Learning to grow on your own!
In Discovering Gifts - Experimenting with different
ways of serving those in need in our community.

3.GO
Crazy - A Jesus-life is filled with unexpected detours and
        opportunities. So cool.

Use Gifts - Faith in Action. We don't just go to church...we
        want to BE the church.

Reach Others - Reaching out with actions and words to
spread the good news & change lives for Christ.

Parent Information
Parents are a highly-valued and vital part of HighPointYouth. One of the biggest reasons our ministry exists is to support and come alongside parents in the spiritual & relational upbringing of their kids.

With very few exceptions, parents are invited to join us at any youth event. Only those programs that are very relationally-intimate in nature (for example, Small Groups) are the ones we ask parents not to sit in on.  If there are ever any questions about this policy, please contact Mike.

There are several ways parents are encouraged to be
involved in HighPointYouth:
--Regular parent meetings help guide the direction of the ministry.
--Parents are often needed as event planners and/or event helpers.
--Parents are also invited to apply to be full-blown youth leaders.  It will
        make you a better parent!

We look forward to years of working together and supporting your family as your teenager develops and learns to work his/her personal faith in Jesus Christ.

About Our Youth Pastors...
Mike and Jeanne-Mari met in June of 1994 (June 8th to be exact).
They were just really good friends for awhile (about 3 months).
They got married after a long engagement (about 2 months)
on December 17, 1994.
They got married again on December 31, 1994 (you'll have to ask them to get the story)

They've been ecstatically happy ever since.

In January of 2000, they picked up a hitchhiker (a daughter named Melissa)
who is now traveling with them through life. They like her a lot, they think she's cool and pretty, and they think she's a good swimmer.

Jeanne-Mari grew up in South Africa. She sounds really cool when she talks. She has a Communications Degree from Tecknikon University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. She was never really crazy as a teenager...she's probably more crazy now.

Mike is from Texas. He graduated high school in Plainview. He doesn't sound that cool when he talks. He has an Engineering/Math/Bible degree from Oklahoma Christian University in Oklahoma City. He spent many summers attending and then later working at several summer camps around Texas. His dream job is doing what he is doing. His other dream job would be as a summer camp director. He was in software development and project management for over 10 years before God saved him to a life worth living (that's twice He's done that!).

Mike and Jeanne-Mari Horton have been serving the youth and families of
HighPoint Fellowship since 1999 and love it. It's the coolest church in the world with the coolest students. The students have taught the two of them way more than they've been taught by them. Did that sentence make sense?!

Mike, Jeanne-Mari and Melissa all enjoy riding bikes, working out, reading, playing in the street, breathing, and drinking
Icee's

They also thank God every day for the blessing of family.  :)
