CONNECT

• Student-to-Student - It's vital that students connect with other students as they help each other through life and their respective faith-journeys.  It's all about being part of a healthy peer-group and living in community.
• Student-to-Adult Leader - When a student connects with an adult believer, he/she sees Christ at work in another adult besides their parents.  It helps them to see that this faith-stuff is a lot more than just another thing their parents want them to do.  This is one of the vital ways that our ministry seeks to work hand-in-hand with parents.
• Student-to-God - Of course, our ultimate goal is to awaken a students' faith and to help them see the bigger God-world around them and that they can be a vital part of it.  When a student graduates from high school, we don't want them graduating from their faith.

GROW

• In Knowledge - It's important that a student grow in their knowledge of the Bible and learn to apply it's truths to their everyday life.
• In Faith - A student grows in faith by learning to worship God and grow on their own.  Personal quiet times, bible study, prayer, etc. are vital.
• In Discovering Gifts - As a student grows, they need a place to "experiment."  We encourage students to try out many different areas of ministry...from serving the homeless to teaching kid's classes to painting/building houses.  Sometimes the experiment fails miserably and sometimes a student's life is changed forever. 

GO

• Crazy - A Jesus-life is awesome and filled with unexpected detours and unexpected opportunities as we do our best to align our lives with God's Will.  We do our best to communicate this expectation to our students.
• Use Gifts - It's vital for students to learn that a life of faith is meant to be exercised outside the church walls.  We don't just go to church...we BE the church. 
• Reach Others - It's all about the Great Commission.  Teaching students to reach out with their lives and words to change lives for Christ.

About Our Youth Pastors...

Mike and Jeanne-Mari Horton have been serving the youth of HighPoint Fellowship since 1999.  They have a jaw-droppingly beautiful 8-year-old daughter that keeps them on their toes. They all enjoy riding bikes, reading, playing in the street, and eating Frosty's at Wendy's.  (Update: Mike's cutting down on the Frosty's because they're really showing up on his waist.  But that makes him no less of a man!)

They also thank God every day for the blessing of
family...and for being a part of the coolest youth
ministry in the coolest church on the planet!
